Ted Kinder is a lover of volleyball and student of the game. Married to Angie Kinder and father of three volleyball players, Grace, Caroline and Sarah. Ted has coached basketball, softball, T-ball and volleyball. This is his third year of coaching at PVC. Off the court he is an Electrician with IBEW 317 in Huntington, a Property Owner of Kinder Rentals and a Raft Guide with Adventures on the Gorge.
In 2014, along with his family, he formed the Ona Volleyball Club. Not as a travel club but as a way to get younger players ready for middle school. It evolved into many young players learning the beginning skills of volleyball and often getting together and playing for fun. The club uses older players to teach younger players and they all learn more during the process. “Pass it On” has become the motto for the club. Ted is thankful to have the opportunity to do that with the Putnam Volleyball Club.
Earlier this year, what started as an effort to better learn the rules , turned in to being a volleyball official. It gave a broader view of the game and ideas that can improve on coaching.
He is a self proclaimed selfie expert and can often be seen at tournaments or on Facebook, posing for a selfie with the team or coaches or anyone for that matter. He has been accused of acting like a 13 year old girl.
“My goal is to teach the player not only about volleyball but about life. As a person: To do their best. To be a good person. To be a good teammate. To be a good sportsman. Second as a Player: To follow instruction. To learn the skills required to play volleyball. To work and play as a team.”
Pass it On!
